Unlike Franzis-developed apps, nothing was recorded being added to the User folders.To install PhotoZoom Pro 8 as an Automation plug-in and Export plug-in, run the PhotoZoom Pro 8 Setup file (either downloaded or from CD). The Compatibility Troubleshooter suggested Win8 settings, and it registered and seems to work just fine, though it has to run as Admin to register so it can write to the registry, where the key's stored. I copied the app's folder from my Win10 Pro 64-bit VM to my regular copy of Win10. Removing the junk & extra help subfolders brings the whole thing down to less than 4 MB. The app's folder has a Help subfolder with several language versions stored in additional subfolders, and the uninstall.exe file is a whopping 10 MB, while the app itself comes in at less that 3.5 MB. The Franzis giveaway wrapper is much larger than usual - the real setup app itself, PhotoZoom_Classic_7_Setup.exe, from the user temp folder, is just under 10 MB. That said, this BenVista app is a bit unusual compared to the usual Franzis fare. You've got quite a few controls to manage the enlarging or resizing, so I was surprised when I went to save the image, there's no quality setting for. Which BTW *may* be why it's on GOTD, sort of a last gasp effort to boost sales to those that haven't heard about AI enlarging. AI enlarging is included in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, and even DVDFab has come out with an AI photo enlarging app. It works, but the biggest thing against PhotoZoom 7 Classic is that it's old tech - they've figured out that AI is The Way to go, and all sorts of software developers are climbing on board. ![]() 8 Pro and Classic, are developed by BenVista.
